Worldwide Messaging Security 2011-2015 Forecast and 2010 Vendor Shares: Content Is King

This IDC study examines the messaging security market for the period from 2009 to 2015 and provides vendor revenue and market growth forecasts. Worldwide market sizing is provided for 2009 and 2010, and a five-year growth forecast for this market is shown for 2011-2015. Revenue and market share of the leading vendors are provided for 2009 and 2010.

"As email enters its 30th year of existence, it is still the primary vector for cybercrime, often based on advanced targeted social engineering techniques, stealthy malware, and combined Web/spam attack methods," says Phil Hochmuth, program manager, Security Products at IDC. "This barrage of attacks against messaging systems will require new types of advanced, context-, and content-aware systems, both on-premise and cloud based. An economic slowdown could lead to a cutback in some security services, particularly those tied to per-seat/employee services such as messaging security SaaS."
