Worldwide Home Networking 2013–2017 Forecast

This IDC study provides the worldwide forecast for adoption of home networks. It forecasts the number of households with home networks and breaks out home networks by application type, including PC home networks and multimedia home networks. This document also forecasts unit shipments of and revenue from wireless home routers in each region as well, broken down by wireless protocol.

"The growth in the number of home networks is being propelled by the adoption of broadband in the Asia/Pacific region, and the devices themselves have become significantly commoditized. But home networking applications development has a long way to go before maturation, even in developed countries, and the data on consumer behavior that a router can gather could be a tremendous asset for vendors that leverage home networks," said Jonathan Gaw, research manager for IDC's Worldwide Consumer Market Model program.
