Worldwide Digital Camera 2009-2013 Forecast Update

This IDC Forecast Update provides a high-level, comprehensive forecast update on the worldwide digital camera market and updates Worldwide Digital Still Camera 2009-2013 Forecast (IDC #217847, April 2009). It contains 2005-2008 actual unit shipments and total 2009-2013 forecasts. Data is presented for the United States, Japan, Western Europe, Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan), and the rest of the world (ROW). This study does not include PC cameras, digital camcorders, or camera phones.

The country breakdown of the major regions covered in this study is as follows:

• The United States and Japan do not necessitate further definition.
• Western Europe comprises the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Belgium, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Switzerland, Austria, Sweden, and other nations.
• Asia/Pacific (AP) excludes Japan but includes Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan, China (PRC), Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, and the Philippines.
• ROW includes Canada, Latin America, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and South Africa.

The shipment data encompasses shipments to a variety of channels, including original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), distributors, camera dealers, computer superstores, consumer retailers (including mass merchants and consumer electronics retailers), third-party channels (including catalog, Internet, mail, and telemarketing), and direct to users.
