Worldwide Database Management Systems 2014–2018 Forecast and 2013 Vendor Shares

This IDC study contains the 2013 vendor shares for the two database management systems (DBMS) software markets, the relational DBMS market and the nonrelational DBMS market, both separately and in combination. It also includes forecasts for both markets from 2014 to 2018, with commentary, analysis, and an explanation of the forecast assumptions.

"Over the next five years, databases will move from disk optimized to memory optimized, from static to dynamic schemas, and from general uniformity to stunning specificity in relation to purpose," says Carl Olofson, research vice president for Database Management and Data Integration Software research at IDC. "New vendors are emerging, but older ones are also evolving very rapidly."
