This IDC study examines the market for security products sold into public and private cloud environments through 2016. It provides a forecast for the market segmented by public and private cloud deployments.

"While private cloud deployments will be slightly ahead of public cloud deployments in terms of security technology deployment and adoption, IDC believes the greatest opportunity for growth is in the public cloud deployment sphere," says Phil Hochmuth, IDC program manager, Security Products. "Cloud service providers will increasingly deploy more security solutions to both secure their own cloud offerings to customers and provide sell-through opportunities to gain incremental revenue on top of cloud services and to differentiate those services from commoditized competitors."
