Western European Vertical Markets IT Spending 2013–2017 Forecast
This IDC study is one in a series of IT market segmentation studies covering the IT marketplace in Western Europe. In particular, this study presents an overview of IT spending by vertical market in Western Europe and its five largest countries (France, Germany, Spain, Italy, the U.K.). Five-year forecasts derived from both demand-side and supply-side information are provided together with an analysis of expected trends in Western European verticals.
Spending data is provided for 2012–2017, segmented into the following vertical markets: banking, insurance, and other finance; discrete manufacturing and process manufacturing; retail; wholesale; central government; local government; healthcare; education; transport, communications, and utilities; business services; agriculture, construction, and mining; and others.
"Utilities remain the fastest-growing vertical market in Western Europe. 2013 opportunities are also evident in retail, business services, and communications, while manufacturing and finance will strengthen IT spending in 2014. Nonetheless, none of the Western European vertical markets will show buoyant IT spending growth, calling not only for tailored and effective vendors' messages but also for a clear understanding of vertical markets' shifting IT budget priorities," said Giuliana Folco, VP research, IDC European Industry Solutions.
