Western European SMBs and SaaS Short-Term Trends: An IDC Survey
This IDC study draws on the results of IDC's European vertical market survey, carried out between May and August 2010 in the top 5 Western European countries (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the U.K.) among 1,130 companies with 20-499 employees. The survey looks at SMBs' and vertical markets' IT spending directions, IT solutions' adoption, solutions' priorities and investment plans, adoption and plans for mobile/wireless solutions, familiarity, adoption and plans for a range of technologies including virtualization, networked storage, green datacenters, SOA and IP telephony.
"The propensity to implement SaaS solutions is quite different among Western European SMBs, depending on the size class. Companies with more than 100 employees have a much higher propensity to implement SaaS solution than smaller organizations. SaaS providers should stress the competitive advantage that SaaS could bring even to small organizations," said Giacomo Laurini, senior research analyst, European Industry Solutions.
