Western European Governments Move from 3rd Platform-Enabled to 3rd Platform-First Enterprise Applications
This IDC study analyzes the findings of a survey that IDC conducted among 270 government IT and non-IT executives in 3Q14 in France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the U.K. The study focuses on the adoption of public cloud software as a service (SaaS) and mobile computing for enterprise applications such as enterprise resource planning (ERP), customer relationship management (CRM), unified communications (UC), business intelligence (BI)/analytics, content management.
"Government executives that want to harness the value for money of 3rd Platform-first enterprise applications, particularly those that leverage the convergence of mobile and cloud, should start inventorying business capabilities for which legacy applications and legacy contracts are reaching the end of their life cycles and evaluate whether the convergence of cloud and mobile can improve the usability, agility, and automation of provisioning," said Massimiliano Claps, research director, IDC Government Insights.
