Western Europe IT Services Top 10 Vendors, 2011

In 2011, the top 10 IT services vendors in Western Europe remained the same players as in 2010 but with Atos propelled four places up the ranking table to the number 4 slot, following its acquisition of Siemens IT Solutions and Services. Leaving aside major acquisitions, it was Accenture that was the big winner in 2011, with double-digit growth that took it close to overtaking Capgemini for the third slot behind IBM at first place and HP at second place.

"2011 was a year of treading water or modest recovery for most of the top 10 in Western Europe," said Douglas Hayward, research director, IDC European Services Research. "2012 is likely to be a tougher year for vendors seeking organic growth, with end users clamping down on discretionary spend in the wake of the continuing macroeconomic crisis and the accompanying low levels of business confidence in many countries. But having said that, there are some interesting drivers of demand growth out there including rapidly growing end-user interest in cloud, virtualization, consumerization, and the challenges of coping with a new generation of 'digital native' workers and customers appearing on the scene."
