Western Europe Monochrome Laser Cut-Sheet Production Printer/MFP Forecast, 2016-2020
There is a very large installed base of toner-based monochrome products out there, and this is mostly a replacement market. And while digital production color is a higher-growth market, monochrome is still a necessary mainstay for many print service providers (PSPs).In 2015, 5,019 units were shipped in Western Europe — a decrease of 277 units compared with 2014. However, value increased $23.5 million in 2015 from $250.6 million in 2014 to $274.1 million in 2015. In this technology, the top 3 vendors in 2013 were Ricoh, Xerox, and Konica Minolta. Shipments by Ricoh and Xerox declined in 2015, while Konica Minolta's units increased 3.1%. Western European monochrome cut-sheet production printer/MFP shipment shares for the various vendors in 2015 were as follows:Ricoh shipped 1,580 units with a market share of 31.5% in 2015, a 5.5% decrease over the company's 2014 shipments. Value shipments increased from $41.4 million in 2014 to $43.1 million in 2015.Xerox shipments decreased 3.5%, while value increased 7.8%. Shipments decreased from 1,128 units in 2014 to 1,088 units in 2015, and value increased from $101.4 million in 2014 to $109.4 million in 2015.Konica Minolta's 2015 shipments increased 3.1%, and its value increased 32.4%. Shipments increased 31 units from 986 units in 2014 to 1,017 units in 2015, and value increased from $46.2 million in 2014 to $61.2 million in 2015.Most of the value increase in 2015 came from the production segment."Monochrome production faces the challenge of competition from color production devices," said Julio Vial, research manager, IDC IPDS Group.
