Western Europe MFP Installed Base, Page Volume, and Supplies 2012–2016 Forecast

This IDC study presents the overall Western European annual shipments of MFPs, which performed poorly in 2011 as a result of a sluggish trend in the inkjet market. However, the installed base for MFPs is expected to show healthy growth from 2012 to 2016. The installed base of MFPs will be driven by driven by the shift from single function to multifunction. The monochrome and color page segment continue to enjoy healthy growth, mainly driven by A4 sales. However, the Western European market for MFPs is experiencing mixed trends, with sales tumbling in countries like Greece, Spain, Ireland, and buoyant in the Nordics.

"The hardcopy market landscape is developing fast," said Mario Lombardo, research manager, IDC EMEA. "As supplies revenues continue to shrink, vendors are forced to seek new revenue streams in print services and document solutions. For this reason, channel partners and strategic alliances with software vendors will be two key factors for survival in the coming years."
