U.S. Subscription Over-the-Top Video Services Subscriber 2014-2018 Forecast
This IDC study presents a forecast of paid subscription over-the-top (OTT) video services in the United States. Total subscriptions and households with at least one OTT video subscription are included. The forecast is also segmented to reflect adoption by households that do and do not subscribe to traditional multichannel pay TV services.
"IDC expects that, at the end of 2014, over 48 million U.S. households will subscribe to at least one subscription OTT video service," said Greg Ireland, research director, Multiscreen Video at IDC. "Although subscription OTT video services, such as Netflix, are used by many households that do not subscribe to traditional multichannel pay TV, nearly three-quarters of households that subscribe to OTT video services also subscribe to traditional pay TV."
