SIBOS Dubai 2013: The "Burj Khalifa" Perspective - A Very High Overview
This IDC Financial Insights Perspective looks at some of the key themes and discussions addressed during the latest installment of Sibos, an annual conference, exhibition, and networking event for the finance industry, held in Dubai on September 16–19, 2013. Organized by the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT), the event was attended by 7,648 delegates, with 73% of the participants coming from Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (EMEA), 16% from Asia-Pacific (APAC), and 11% from the Americas.
The conference, held in different locations each year, allows financial institutions from across the globe to congregate and meet with their peers to discuss business strategies and emerging technology solutions related to their industry. In addition, the conference enables members of the vendor community to showcase their wares and new platforms to financial institutions and to present best practices in overcoming the latest challenges to face the industry.
During the course of the event, the delegates participated in a number of key presentations, specialty workshops, and private prescheduled meetings and engaged in numerous ad-hoc discussions with vendors and suppliers. A social forum also enabled delegates to seek out networking opportunities with their industry peers.
