This IDC study was undertaken in conjunction with the Getting IT Right Initiative a business community project seeking to unlock the potential of New Zealand businesses, both locally and globally, by promoting and utilising best IT practices in the workplace. The initiative also seeks to improve the success rate of New Zealand organisation IT investments and projects by identifying the key areas of misalignment blocking effective implementations. As part of this initiative, IDC conducted a survey to measure the state of IT across the stakeholder groups with the feedback being used to provide a snapshot of the status of IT's role in New Zealand organisations, and to provide a benchmark on which IDC can measure year-over-year improvements.
"As deferred projects resume, greater scrutiny needs to be paid to project objectives, both tangible and intangible, at all levels of management, not just executives," says Louise Francis, senior market analyst, IDC New Zealand. "IT project managers must also learn how to light the fire as this is the key to gaining end user and management buy-in to IT projects, a key determinant of project success."
