This IDC study examines the postpaid wireless services market in the United States. It assesses key market trends and developments, evaluates subscribers and revenue for 2014, and presents a revenue and subscriber forecast for 2016–2020. In this forecast, postpaid services include voice and data mobile devices, including mobile broadband devices. This forecast provides analysis of postpaid subscriber net additions, ARPU, and revenue."There was an expectation that no-contract subscriptions would grow on the postpaid side of the mobile services market, and this growth can be attributed to a shift in consumer device purchasing behavior, specifically a growing number of subscribers who are purchasing their device outright as well as through equipment installment plans," says Brian Haven, senior research analyst, United States Mobile Consumer Services. "In the long term, postpaid contract subscriptions will be made up of business subscriptions as well as a very small portion of consumer subscribers who are eligible for two-year contract plans."
