Options for Alleviating the Shortage of Advanced and Predictive Analytics Skills Plaguing the Market
This IDC study presents results from the annual IDC and Computerworld business analytics survey. This study describes findings about challenges that organizations face with advanced and predictive analytics skills.
The lack of a sufficient number of staff with advanced and predictive analytics skills is the greatest business analytics challenge faced by organizations. Furthermore, this lack of skills is hindering success of business analytics initiatives, which in turn impacts the ability of organizations to apply data-driven decision making to achieve desired outcomes. There is no single solution to address today's shortage of advanced and predictive analytics skills," said Alys Woodward, research director for Advanced and Predictive Analytics, IDC. "Organizations need to consider a mix of using internal and external talent, investing more in training, and deploying new technology that automates certain steps in the analytics life cycle."
