This IDC study presents a forecast of multichannel pay TV subscribers in the United States through 2016. Forecast segmentation reflects the three major market segments: cable, satellite, and telco TV services.

"The U.S. multichannel pay TV services market bounced back in 2011 after experiencing an unprecedented subscriber decline in 2010," said Greg Ireland, research manager, Connected Consumer: Video at IDC. "While mass cord-cutting is not taking place in the United States today and is not expected to take place during the five-year forecast period, we do forecast a slight decline in the overall multichannel subscriber base as more households continue to opt against subscribing to traditional pay TV services."
