This Government Insights report describes the process-centric mobile and remote working solution (MRWS) designed and developed for the Wiltshire Police Force (WPF). The solution provides a unified view of all operational policing systems, including national and force specific systems; it enables collaboration between various forces and other government agencies.

Jan Duffy, research director, EMEA Government Insights, says: "Police forces around the world are pressured to provide an ever-increasing volume and scope of services, causing stress on available resources and adding to an already high level of administrative work. Like many other forces, the Wiltshire Police Force was pressured to improve its policing processes and to enhance its policing visibility and effectiveness. In April 2007 WPF issued a request for proposal for the design and development of a mobile and remote working solution that would support redesigned and streamlined policing processes. The solution developed by HCL Technologies appears to provide an excellent foundation for WPF to achieve the ambitious improvements encompassed in its forward-looking vision in a cost-effective way."
