This IDC study compares and contrasts the performance of Australia's three mobile broadband (MBB) networks, based on over 1,000 independent tests carried out over the last quarter. This study includes an outlook of the market into 2012 and beyond, along with key drivers for the continued growth of mobile broadband.

"Carriers are stepping up their game and we are seeing faster downstream speeds by approximately 10% from 2010 and latency has dropped off by a quarter, but the news is bittersweet. Upload speeds are nearly 30% slower," says Dustin Kehoe, Associate Research Director, IDC Australia. "Despite operators putting more investment into the network, the results suggest some challenges in supporting the explosion of smartphones and media tablets as we have witnessed in other parts of the world."
