Managed Storage Services: A Customer Demand Primer

This IDC study examines both current and intended use of managed storage services among large and medium-sized companies in Canada, based on the responses of senior IT employees. The externalization of storage management is still at an early stage in Canada and vendors will have to undertake a great deal of customer education in order to overcome early adoption obstacles. "Even though the cost of storage continues to decline, the costs of managing and provisioning solutions remain relatively constant, and the ability of managed storage services vendors to address new and emerging storage demands will become an increased source of differentiation," says Jim Westcott, research manager, IDC Canada.
