Malaysia Fixed Broadband Competitive Analysis

This IDC study provides an updated snapshot of the fixed-broadband access services market of Malaysia. It presents the current major fixed-broadband service providers' (SPs') profiles along with their broadband offerings that are available to the public. The study also presents current and future Internet trends as well as market strategies currently employed by SPs for future opportunities.

"Fixed broadband in Malaysia continues to grow at a healthy rate, especially with fiber to the "x" (FTTx), which surged from having 2.5 % to 12.9% of broadband access revenue in 2011. With more SPs joining to compete in the FTTx market, IDC expects price competition to become even more intense. Triple-play and value-added services are essential to add value to current FTTx data pipes and packages in revenue stream generation," says Hweexian Tan, analyst, Telecommunications Research, IDC Malaysia.
