Japan Virtual Client Computing ROI Analysis 2012

This IDC study presents the results of a survey on investment and its returns on user companies that implemented virtual client products and analyzes the return on investment (ROI) by category. IDC conducted a quantitative analysis using its unique methodologies on data extracted and analyzed from 957 samples taken in the user survey, from which the ROI is calculated. Although the virtual client market is growing, its scale is small when looking at it from the overall IT market. For user companies that failed to make a bold start in implementation, elucidating the ROI will be one of the effective measures in promoting implementation.

"Both ROI and IT operation ratio are important. IT vendors are required to determine the suitability of on-premises virtual client and virtual client services for user companies, and outfit the end-user environments from top-down. To that end, mobilizing the CEO and the management, in addition to IT administrators and the CIO, is vital. IDC believes that the roles and importance of virtual client will be clear by measuring and proposing the ROI for end-user environments together with user companies and partners and by sharing those measurements and proposals with the management," says Hiroshi Shibutani, senior market analyst, PC, Mobile Devices and Client Solutions, IDC Japan.
