This IDC study, analyzes the IT usage trends and future IT spending of well-performing and leading medium companies. It also presents management issues faced by well-performing small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs), IT spending trends, and usage of/consideration to use solutions based on interviews with well-performing medium companies and the results of the Japan SMB User Survey, which was conducted in February 2012.
The Japan SMB IT market remains a low growth rate market due to the uncertainties in Japan's economy. Even so, well-performing SMBs are steadily increasing IT spending. By actively using major solutions such as public cloud, smartphones, and tablets, many well-performing SMBs seek to resolve management issues and problems in IT implementation/operation.
Therefore, "in order to expand business in the Japan SMB IT market in the future, it is important for IT vendors to target leading and well-performing SMBs in the short term and in the medium to long term," says Hitoshi Ichimura, senior market analyst, IT Spending, IDC Japan.
