This IDC study, estimates the performance of the Japan small and medium-sized business (SMB) IT market in 2012 and presents a forecast for 2013–2017 by company size, product, industry, region, and prefecture, based on the latest economic situation, product information gathered from vendor surveys conducted up to April 2013, and results of the IT Spending Trend Survey conducted in March 2013. The Japan economy is on a recovery track, due to the government's aggressive economic measures in 2013. However, many companies are slow in business recovery and IT spending continues to be curtailed.
On the other hand, companies in some industries are increasing IT spending, due to the impact of the economic policies. IT spending is expected to increase across many other different industries, due to government's policies in the future. Therefore, "vendors should accurately grasp the trends and impact of government's policies and pinpoint solutions for industries where IT spending is expected to increase," says Hitoshi Ichimura, senior market analyst, IT Spending, IDC Japan.
