Japan Small and Medium Business 2013–2016 Forecast and 2012 Review

This IDC study, estimates the performance of the Japan small and medium-sized business (SMB) IT market in 2012 and presents a forecast for 2013 to 2016 by company size, product, industry, region, and prefecture, based on the latest economic situation, product information gathered from vendor surveys conducted up to October 2012, and results of the IT Spending Trend Survey conducted in September 2012. Entering 2013, many companies continue to hold back on IT spending due to Japan's uncertain economy stemming from the high yen and impact from overseas economies.

However, IT spending may also increase due to increased consumption taxes and government's support measures for SMBs. Therefore, "IT vendors must keep a close watch on these trends and propose the most appropriate solutions for SMBs quickly, in order to expand their businesses in 2013," says Hitoshi Ichimura, senior market analyst, IT Spending, IDC Japan.
