This IDC study (a translation of the Japanese report IDC #J11260109) presents a vertical analysis of the top vendors' competitive landscape in the Japan IT services market from April 2010 to March 2011. IDC classifies the IT services market into six industry segments, in which all leading vendors' performances based on consolidated revenue, vendor trends, and customer case studies are discussed. The leading vendors' FY10 IT services revenue in the market is broken down into six industry segments: finance, manufacturing, distribution, communications and media, government and public offices, and other industry segments, according to customer's industry segment. Looking at this revenue, many vendors recorded negative YoY growth rates in many industry segments. However, many vendors' growth rates had improved compared with that of FY09 in the manufacturing sector.

Although the Japan IT services market's YoY growth rate will be negative until 2011 due to the post-Lehman Shock recession and the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake, IDC forecasts that the growth rate will turn positive from 2012 onward. "IDC expects that new IT demand will rise such as reinforcing IT disaster prevention measures in the government and public sector, thus IT service vendors should focus on addressing such demands," says Mimei Ito, research manager, IDC Japan.
