This IDC study summarizes the situation and trends in the Japan IT services market and presents IT services spending forecasts based on the three service segments (subcategories), six industries, and 18 detailed industries. In addition to the IT services spending forecast, this study gives forecasts for market size and growth rate from 2014 to 2018. This study also presents IDC's recommendations for service vendors.
The Japan IT services market is expecting to reach a very high YoY growth rate in 2014, the highest in six years. Particularly in finance and government/public sector, there was a lot of activity in system development investment in the first half of 2014, and the project-oriented market achieved extremely high growth. In 2015 and beyond, the Japan IT services market will continue to grow, but at a lower growth rate. The primary market driver in 2015 and beyond will be the IT outsourcing market. "For IT suppliers to survive in a low-growth market, they must build business models for 3rd Platform services and sell the idea of IT as a catalyst for innovation to their clients," says Yukiharu Yorifuji, Group Director, IDC Japan.
