This IDC study, analyzes the implementation rates of enterprise IT security solutions in Japan, based on the results of an IDC survey conducted in January 2013.

The spectrum of security solutions has broadened from those on intranets to those on the Internet (such as cloud and social networking services); from those for PCs and servers to those for mobile equipment such as smartphones, and closed network environments like manufacturing lines; and security solutions for "third IT platforms." "It is important for user companies to understand the target scope of their existing security solutions, whether these solutions are adequate to protect IT assets, and to review the solutions if they are not. User companies should engage the help of specialists to evaluate and analyze their existing security solutions and potential security intelligent information. Upon understanding their security status, user companies should then review their policy settings and other measures. It is important that the monitoring, analysis, and review of security solutions be performed on a regular basis and not just temporarily," says Tsuneo Tosaka, research manager, Software and Security, IDC Japan.
