The appetite for security service spending is likely to increase over the next year due to the need to enhance compliance and the rampant targeted security attacks. "Japan carriers need to provide next-generation firewalls to secure replacement contracts with customers of their managed firewall services. With the expected increase in business use of smart devices, carriers should promote smart device security management services that incorporate network security," says Akiko Kawakami, senior market analyst, Communications, IDC Japan.
