This IDC study (a translation of the Japanese report IDC #J11420102) examines the shipment results for the Japan disk storage systems market from 2007 to 2010 and provides forecasts up to 2015. Shipment results were analyzed in terms of revenue, (unit) shipments, and capacity; while forecasts were analyzed in terms of revenue and capacity. In addition, this study also analyzes supplier shipment results and market share from 2008 to 2010 in terms of revenue, capacity, and (unit) shipments. Analyses and forecasts for the Japan disk storage systems market were done in terms of OS, installation environment, external/internal disk storage systems, captive/noncaptive, distribution channel (direct/indirect sales), and so on. This study also provides shipment results and forecasts for the high-end, midrange, and low-end price segments of the external disk storage systems market. The forecasts used by this study take into consideration the effects of the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake.
