Japan Cloud Services Vendor Business Status 2012

In this study we provide an overview of the Japan cloud services market and examine the business trends of leading vendors in this market.

The issue of silo systems has been discussed in the IT market since the debut of client/server technology. "Overall optimization" has been put forth as an antidote but this strategy tends to increase the total cost of implementing/operating individual systems, creating another major problem. Meanwhile, cloud is an IT delivery model that supplies the right amount of resources when needed, and thus minimizes excesses or wastage. "To enhance their competitiveness in the cloud era, IDC believes it will be necessary for vendors to explicate the benefits of overall optimization even if the strategy is not optimal from the perspective of individual systems," says Satoshi Matsumoto, research manager, IT Services, IDC Japan.
