IDC's annual Enterprise Pulse survey takes a snapshot of the IT spending intentions of 550 European organizations. The latest survey, conducted in December 2012, shows that while half of companies are negatively affected by current economic conditions, companies that increased their IT and cloud spending in 2012 or expect to increase again in 2013 comfortably outnumber those that decreased or expect to decrease spending. At the same time, expectations of change in IT and cloud spending in 2013 are slightly more positive than actual changes in 2012.
"Overall, spending intentions for IT and cloud reflect broader national economies," said James Eibisch, research director, IDC EMEA Telco Cloud Opportunities. "There are signs that cloud is being viewed more as a strategic than a short-term tactical cost reduction option."
