This study covers the results of IDC's Encryption Usage Survey. The quantitative study focused on the understanding of the types of encryption products that enterprises are deploying or plan to deploy, the reasons they are deploying the technology, and the features most desired by customers. "It appears that most people assume that the encryption will work properly, so the desired characteristics within encryption products are reliability, performance, and ease of use," said Charles Kolodgy, research director at IDC. "Vendors must ensure that their products perform properly and are useable."
