IDC utilized the commencement of green IT adoption within the datacenters in Malaysia. The trends regarding green IT in Malaysia was the main focus of this study as well as the challenges to its adoption in the datacenters. "There was a lack of awareness, previously, about environmental sustainability in Malaysia and it has never been the main concern of IT departments in most companies. However, the cost and energy savings attributes of green IT could entice organizations to adopt it, especially during the prevailing economic situation. Hence. the global economical crisis will indirectly take over the role of governance, as companies realize the economic benefits to be derived from implementing green IT," says Li-Shian Chang, associate market analyst, IDC Malaysia. |
