This IDC Financial Insights Perspective looks at the first of 10 predictions — that the number of banks worldwide would shrink by 5% — made in January 2009 by analysts from IDC Financial Insights as to what the upcoming year was going to deliver. While 2009 still has many weeks to go, our prediction may have been a bit aggressive, primarily due to a slow down with mergers and acquisitions.
