This IDC study presents the results of a recent IDC survey of 700 European organizations' IT decision makers and influencers from small, midsize, and large European organizations. The study specifically analyzes IT and business priorities as well as checks for trends by country, industry, and organization size.
"IDC's European Software Survey confirms that European organizations remain in a state of mind characterized by cost reduction, process improvement, and long-term survival. Furthermore, the survey showed how IT departments are very concerned with supporting business innovations and operational issues and less concerned with new IT approaches related to what IDC calls the 3rd Platform," said Bo Lykkegaard, research director, IDC European Enterprise Applications. "Ultimately, European CIOs will have to consider completely new IT approaches such as cloud computing as possible means to meet the ever-increasing requirements from internal stakeholders and end users."
