European 2015 End-User Priorities and Software Spending Plans
This IDC study presents the results of a recent IDC survey of 1,451 European organizations' IT decision makers and influencers from small, midsize, and large enterprises. The respondents were asked about their IT and business priorities, spending plans, and software procurement processes for 2015. Additionally, it inquired into their plans and attitudes regarding a number of software issues including cloud computing, mobile devices, Big Data, IT security, and social software in the enterprise. This study specifically looks at IT and business priorities. Furthermore, it provides actionable advice for IT vendors and buyers.
"IDC's annual software survey revealed that while European organizations have shifted from a focus on efficiency to one that balances efficiency and growth priorities, the emphasis remains on efficiency. The number 1 focus is quality improvement, followed by cost reduction and business process improvement. Furthermore, the responses illustrate the pressure on IT departments. On one hand, IT departments are expected to play a key role in the transition to digital business models, improve IT security, and improve the usability of the tools for employees. On the other hand, the same IT department is expected to reduce IT costs," said Bo Lykkegaard, research director, IDC European Enterprise Applications. "This seemingly 'mission impossible' of IT is driving new consumption approaches, particularly cloud computing, that enable fast deployment of new solutions without large upfront investments."
