Economic Crisis Response: Worldwide Technical Computing Server 2009–2013 Forecast Update — November 2009IDCNovember 3, 2009 16 Pages - SKU: IDC2496176 |
This IDC Forecast Update provides a high-level summary of IDC's latest forecast for HPC (technical computing) server spending through 2013. The forecast was revised in light of the global economic downturn, actual results for 1H09, and the resulting 9% decline for the first half of 2009. This new forecast predicts a reduction from IDC's May 2009 HPC server forecast for the overall HPC market and for each of the four IDC HPC competitive segments (supercomputers, divisional servers, departmental servers, and workgroup servers) (see Worldwide Technical Computing Server 2009-2013 Forecast Update, IDC #217881, May 2009). IDC plans to watch market conditions more closely than usual and revise our HPC forecasts as economic and market conditions evolve to provide clients with an up-to-date view of the HPC market and where it is heading. We plan to update our HPC forecasts on a quarterly basis until the economic situation stabilizes. |
