In this update, we examine the growing momentum for plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) given the emergence of government grants, the growing availability of conversion kits, and manufacturer plans to launch commercial production in two years. We next describe the continued proliferation of energy portfolio standards and the growing eligibility of distributed energy technologies, such as combined heat and power. We then explore recent developments, both positive and negative, at three fuel cell companies active in the stationary power marketplace. We close with a summary of a recent report on the small wind sector (<100kW) and include a review of a select number of companies that are targeting their micro-wind turbines (<10kW) at the largely untapped residential market.
