In May 2009, State Grid formally approved the smart grid development plan, as well as the company's RMB 3,450 billion-worth 2009-2020 smart grid investment, of which RMB 384.1 billion will go to power grid intelligentization, accounting for 11.1% of the total power grid investment. As one of the key technologies supporting the power grid intelligentization, IOT has the capacity to effectively integrate communication infrastructure and power system infrastructure resources, so as to align information communication infrastructure resources with the power system, elevate the overall informatization level of the power system, and ensure more efficient use of the current power system infrastructures.
