This IDC study provides insight into the use and future use of cloud and other emerging enterprise technologies in the CEMA region based on responses to the IDC WAN Manager Survey 2011. Based on a survey of 787 respondents from businesses and organizations from nine countries across the CEMA region, the study suggests that IT decision makers in the CEMA region are generally familiar with technologies such as UC, IaaS, SaaS, and telepresence, but that CEMA enterprises' adoption of these services lags familiarity. Survey respondents generally view telecommunications providers positively as potential sources for obtaining cloud services, but significant percentages do not express a preference for buying cloud services from telecommunications providers.
"Cloud services could offer cost and scale efficiencies attractive to CEMA companies. IDC WAN Manager Survey results suggest that telecommunications providers in the CEMA region must continue to develop their cloud service portfolios and go-to-market strategies to best position themselves to take advantage of expected growth in cloud services uptake in the region." – Senior Research Analyst, Matthew Marden, Communications, IDC CEMA
