This IDC Government Insights report summarises the key issues discussed in a closed-door forum involving senior risk executives from local and central government agencies in New Zealand. It examines the issues faced, viewpoints shared, and experiences encountered in the government sector, centering round measuring ICT value, shared services, cloud computing, and managing the changing role of ICT within government.
"The role of ICT in government is always in a state of flux, and too often the changes have not delivered significant benefits," says Peter Macaulay, Principal, Executive Practice, IDC New Zealand. "The new model of governance, formed to lead the Government ICT Directions and Priorities initiative should improve the outcomes and reduce the risk of bad projects getting too far towards production. Overall, IDC's view is that NZ Government ICT is in a strong and healthy position to meet the challenges demanded by elected representatives."
