This IDC Health Insights study presents an analysis of the ICT spending trends and forecast in the Indonesia healthcare industry in 2010–2015. It provides a breakdown of the key areas of healthcare ICT spending and the critical issues faced by the healthcare industry in 2011, as well as the factors that will influence ICT investment decisions over the next few years. Overall, 2011 ICT spending by the healthcare sector in Indonesia is estimated to be US$150.11 million, signifying 6.09% growth over the previous year's estimate. By 2015, IDC Health Insights forecasts that healthcare ICT spending will reach US$193.51 million.

"Indonesia's healthcare IT investments are at a fairly nascent stage, with immense focus on basic infrastructure, especially hardware," says Sash Mukherjee, senior market analyst, IDC Health Insights, Asia/Pacific. "By linking ehealth to egovernment, which includes storing health details on the electronic identity cards, Indonesia has taken a huge step toward widespread healthcare digitization. Over the next few years, investments in hardware will continue to grow. However, since healthcare digitization is still at a very early stage, the country would benefit from simultaneous investments in advanced capabilities like central data repository, health information exchange (HIE), and integrated analytics," she adds.
