After some years of lagging behind North America and Asia/Pacific, IDC expects a strong ramp up in adoption of Big Data in Europe over the course of 2013 and into 2014. This study gives a view of IDC survey results across 700 European IT decision makers across seven regions and five industries.
"We believe that by the end of 1Q14, around a third of European organizations will provide access to Big Data production to some of their end users based on these survey results," said Alys Woodward, research director, European Business Analytics and Enterprise Social. "Other market drivers are the enterprise Hadoop vendors that are ramping up their presence in Europe. In the next few years, we expect to see an increase in the use of the cloud for Big Data, and a focus on using mobile BI to increase adoption levels."
