This IDC study presents an updated market analysis and forecast of vertical ICT spending in Australia for the 2010–2015 period. The aim of this study is to provide a guide for ICT vendors, explaining which path future demand will follow and trends that will influence end-user IT purchases. In particular, specific vertical drivers and trends will be evaluated to provide vendors with insight into how buying decisions are reached in different industries.

The variations in the Australian economy, particularly mining and non-mining sector, are having a significant impact on ICT spending. This is not only in the way that the intensity of spending varies across different vertical industries but also the ICT investment organisations within different vertical markets are seeking to support delivery of required efficiency, cost savings, and productivity improvements, says Emilie Ditton, research manager, Vertical Markets, IDC Australia.
