Australia Unified Communications and Collaboration 2013–2018 Forecast and Analysis: Demand Shifting from Hardware to Software and Services
This IDC study examines the unified communications and collaboration (UC&C) equipment market in Australia for 2013, with a five-year growth forecast for 2013–2018 and trends and forecast assumptions for the same period. The study covers IP telephony, videoconferencing, enterprise collaboration, and contact centre. This study is based on numerous interviews with vendors (e.g., Alcatel-Lucent, Avaya, Cisco, Genesys, IBM, Lifesize, Microsoft, Mitel, and Siemens) and service providers (e.g., NEC, Optus, Telstra, and UXC Connect). This study provides insights on the adoption of UC&C in Australia and discusses the drivers and inhibitors for various UC&C components.
"There has been tremendous innovation in UC&C solutions resulting in products that are more affordable and easier to use, which will start to drive adoption. We are seeing a rapid shift of demand from hardware-based on-premise UC&C solutions to software-based and cloud-based solutions as companies look for greater flexibility, cost efficiency, and less technology to manage," says Siow-Meng Soh, research manager, IDC Australia.
