This IDC study provides forecasts for and analysis of the Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) or APEJ mobile music services market in 10 countries in the region - Australia, Hong Kong, India, Malaysia, the Philippines, the People's Republic of China (PRC), Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand. In particular, this study analyzes the ringtone, ringback tone, and full-track over-the-air (OTA) music download markets. The future outlook section presents forecast data for the ringtone, ringback tone, and OTA mobile music services in the APEJ region, presenting IDC's assumptions for the period from 2007 to 2012.

"Mobile music adoption tends to vary from country to country within the APEJ region, but times are changing as technology improves," says Tsu-Ann Tham, associate analyst for IDC Asia/Pacific's Consumer Markets program. "Ringtones, while still popular in India, are generally fading across the region as more phones become MP3 enabled. Ringback tones still have some momentum though, particularly in PRC, India, and Korea. Full-track downloads are still in early stages given the heavy amount of pirated content available, but some progress is being made."
