Multiplatform Content & Services 2010 - Background

This report details the findings from the eighth annual survey on high speed broadband services and broadband TV content conducted in July 2010. The survey was conducted online among high speed Internet users 18+ with Internet access at home across the entire United States, with an additional sample of high speed Internet users ages 15-17.

1,054 online surveys -839 among high speed Internet users ages 18+ and 215 among high speed Internet users ages 15-17.

This year’s data are compared to previous waves to give a complete pictureof how these technologies and their usage track over time.

High Speed Internet Access at Home:

Consistent with previous years, cable modem services enjoy the largest share of high speed Internet subscribers (54% vs. 35% DSL and 9% telcos).

About one in ten (13%) high speed Internet users 18+ have wireless Internet access in their laptops through a wireless card from a cell phone company; for 3% this is the only Internet connection they have.
