Manganese in Asia and Oceania

Manganese is a mature market, with world consumption growing less than 1% a year. Gobi International analysts forecast the market to be worth over US$2 billion by 2004. The Ukraine is the largest producer of manganese, with production at almost 6 million tonnes a year. Asia is the largest consuming region of manganese, accounting for 47% of world consumption, while demand is growing fastest in the Middle East, which is experiencing, on average, a 3% growth per year. Japan, France and China remain as the major importers. This report evaluates the manganese market in 89 countries from 1997, with forecasts forward to 2004.
