Ferro-manganese in the Americas

World consumption of ferro-manganese is almost 5 million tonnes per year, with a value of almost US$3 billion. The industry is experiencing growth of over 1%, on average, annually. Asia is the largest consuming region of ferro-manganese, accounting for 41% of world consumption, while Europe accounts for 38%. The Middle East is experiencing the strongest growth of over 4% per year. The USA, the Netherlands, and Japan are the leading importers, while South Africa, France and Norway remain as the major exporters. This report reviews the ferro-manganese market in 97 countries from 1997, with forecasts forward to 2004.

This report covers ferro-manganese. The production figures do not include recycled ferro-manganese, nor is ferro-manganese drawn down from stocks included in this report. As a result, estimated consumption for some countries may appear to be lower than anticipated.
